UniVessel Fermenter Modified as Dedicated Souring Kettle

UniVessel Fermenter Modified as Dedicated Souring Kettle

We recently started advertising the ability to use the UniVessel as a kettle as well as a fermenter. And this modification below really goes to show the versatility of the UniVessel in what it can become with the right mindset. This modification comes from Stacey Brown, Yuba City, CA. I added a coupling and thermowell, insulated it with ridged foam on the bottom and thermowrap on the sides.  Stuck a reptile heater on the side under the insulation and added a tri-clamp on the lid and a gas ball lock post on top to purge with co2.  Pump my wort in...

Homebrewer Scraps InfuSsion Mash Tun and Chooses ThermoBarrel

In July I saw a homebrewer complaining about the InfuSsion mash tun on HomeBrewTalk. So I offered to send him the ThermoBarrel for comparison to see if he liked it any better. While that certainly could have been accomplished with a traditional bung it seemed too pedestrian for these fermenters. Luckily for me I live 30 minutes from Bobby's...

July 1, 2016 Brew with your "UniVessel" fermenter This isn't really a modification, but it's an alternative use of our pre-existing gear. For those homebrewers tight on space or for newbies looking for the smartest way to start brewing here's a solution. It's big enough that you can use it for extract brews, all-grain BIAB brews, or anything in between. The fermenter is tough enough to withstand the heat from the boil, and it can still be used as a fermenter for years to come. I know it's not ideal, but for vessels as low as $119.99, it's the economical way to start brewing if...
